There
is going to be about 8 out of 10 people who are going to have
lower back pain in their lives. Now there are two types of
pains.
You have the acute, which is going to
last a few weeks to a couple months and will usually take care
of itself. Then there is chronic pain, which is going to last a
few months. This is going to vary in intensity and you may have
some flair ups that will be worse. There are some safe
exercises for lower
back pain and we will go through those. I am going to
have some video in this article describing the low back
exercise.
Exercises for lower back
pain
Do you recall the day when you worked
in the garden and woke up the next day and had some awful
backache. This is what we call the "garden variety" of back
pain. It happened by overuse of muscle strain.
What you want to do for this treatment
is to stay active. Try not to get into positions that
exacerbate the pain. Try to use ice or heat when this helps.
You can also take some non-prescription pain killers if you
need to.

These fitness exercises that we are
going to go through are better than just walking and sometimes
aerobic exercises are to much. If you are not feeling much
pain, you can do a light workout on one of those Nordic
exercisers.
Ideally you want to do some exercise
for low backpain under the supervision of a physical therapist.
But this is not always possible. There is a lot that you can do
without the professional supervision.

Once the bulk of the pain is gone, you
can get into some gentle stretching and back strengthening
exercises that will help you back, abdominal muscles and legs.
All of the exercises to relieve lower back pain,
there should be a mixture of stretching and strengthening of
the muscles.
Strong muscles are less likely to be
strained. Always remember the body works better when it is
strong. When you use these low back exercise program, you are
in the process of helping yourself from re-injuring your back
again. This will also allow you to recover faster. This next
low back exercise uses your knee to pull up and back to give
your low back a workout.

If you still have a little pain, don't
let this stop you from doing some of these exercises. It is
going to be better in the long run if you try to do some of
these, and with this light strengthening program will make you
feel better than just lying around in bed.

If you are not starting to do some
exercise and return to some form of activity, you are taking
the chance of loss of strength, flexibility and endurance and
you could also potentially have even more pain in your lower
back.

Now there are times when a visit to
the doctor is in order. Some things that would indicate a trip
to the doctor would be:
Numbness, tingling or loss of
control of arms or legs
Pain in back extending down back
of leg
Dull pain in one area of your
spine while lying down or getting out of bed
Pain increases when you cough or
bend forward at waist
Or you have a fever
You should check with your doctor if
you have any of these, because this could be something more
dangerous than the "garden variety" of backache.
For anything else than exercises for
lower back pain is the best solution.
